IT Tech Notes / USPS Online Roster Tool
« on: May 13, 2016, 05:03:39 PM »
Roster Tool navigation is found on the "Links" page under Resources and Links.  It is a resource available to USPS members. When you select it you may use the following instructions for authentication.

This should bring up a "Real Person Confirmation" dialog, which is an arithmetic word problem (e.g., seven + four). Type in the number that is the answer (e.g., 11), and click continue. This should result in a page that is the Squadron Member Listing from the headquarters computer. If you haven't signed in to the headquarters computer before, you will see instead a Member Validation page that asks for your certificate number and PIN. You received those in a mailing from headquarters when you joined. If you've lost track of those, I can look up your certificate number for you, and you can then click on the Security Information link. On the resulting page, check "I don't know my security question," and headquarters will then e-mail you the question. When you receive the question, answer it, and the headquarters computer will e-mail your PIN. Pretty secure, isn't it? We can make it work!

On the Squadron Member Listing you will find all our members listed, with address, telephone, and e-mail contact information. An easy click on a member's e-mail address will allow you to send them an e-mail. A click on their name will bring up roster details. A click on your own name will allow you to update your own information. Also on the upper left of that page are links to other sources of information such as our squadron bylaws and a printer-friendly way to download our roster if you wish.

If you're having trouble, send an email to

The following message was received 15 Dec 2012:

Here is the initial Meetup page that is up.    (I'm open to ideas for improvement...but this is the first pass out of the gate. :-)

Also special thanks to Kieth Dahlin for quickly getting our new Facebook page up for Boulder Valley Sail and Power Squadron, it looks great!

Thanks for all of your support and encouragement to having our group sailing in these two new forums; Facebook & Meetup!

IT Tech Notes / Missing Emails
« on: December 27, 2012, 08:08:10 AM »
Q: I understand that Cdr Hughes sent a membership e-mail the end of
December, but I didn't receive it. What's the deal?

A: Check your junk-mail folder. To do that, you may need to go directly
to your browser-based e-mail site rather than your on-computer
application. Our MSN hotmail account blocked the mail from sender
SQUADRON_MAIL <>, gave no notice, and would have
automatically purged it in 10 days. To fix it for the future, enter
that address in your contacts list and/or address book on the email
server. You may need to do that on your on-computer application as well.

Content submitted by Ron Schwiesow - thanks Ron!

Here are links to Part 1 & Part 2 of a power point presentation made to the Boulder Valley Sail and Power squadron in April 2010. Each file is bout 20MB. There is a little bit of everything for everyone: Enjoy!  Thanks to John Harris for sharing.

I have also included two google earth files. If you download both, then open google earth, then open the 2 google earth files you should get an animated google earth tour (JCD09.kmz) of the voyage across the Atlantic.

A panel discussion on cruising took place at a 2012 membership meeting. The following document attachments were created by this panel to share with members.  They are available here to view and/or download.
